Kenneth's Story

Kenneth E. Warner, 76, of Mount Vernon, Illinois passed away at 6:30 A.M. September 25, 2017 at White Oak Rehabilitation and Health Care Center in Mount Vernon. He was born December 14, 1940 in Mount Vernon to Earl & Ora (Burke) Warner and graduated from Mount Vernon Township High School in 1958. He married Jacqueline Christensen on November 27, 1969 in Mount Vernon and they were blessed with 39 years together before she passed away on March 27, 2009.
Mr. Warner is survived by his 2 step-sons, Maxie Henry of Mount Vernon, Illinois and Greg Campbell of Mount Vernon, Illinois; brother, Wilburn Warner and wife, Bonnie of Mount Vernon, Illinois; sister Vivian Wood and husband, Jim of Mount Vernon, Illinois; and brother-in-law, Cliff Christensen and wife, Sue of Mount Vernon, Illinois.
He was preceded in death by his parents; wife; 2 sisters, Barbara Johnson and husband, Bill of Newburgh, Indiana and Margaret Lewis of Maryland Heights, Missouri; and brother, Don Warner and wife, Yvonne of Chattanooga, Tennessee.
Mr. Warner worked as a parts salesman for Diamond Equipment (Bi-State). He was a member of the Moose Lodge, Sons of the American Legion, and Mount Vernon Gun and Sportsman Club. It was known to friends and family the Moose was his second home. Kenny joined the Moose Fraternity in 1968 and worked his way to Governor at Mt. Vernon Lodge 755. He and his wife, Jackie were both very dedicated members. In 1993, Kenny earned the distinguished Pilgrim Degree of Merit. He was also a past president of the Illinois Moose Association and the Moose Legion. Kenny enjoyed people and made friends easily. In his time at White Oak, he was well known and liked by everyone. He was an avid St. Louis Cardinals fan and enjoyed wearing his Cardinals cap. Kenny loved children, animals, coffee, and sweets. Just the sight of a child or animal would make his face light up. Coffee and sweets were on his mind and in his mouth anytime of the day. Kenny was loved by everyone and will be missed.
A visitation will be held at 9:30 A.M. until funeral service time, 11:00 A.M. Thursday, September 28, 2017 at Hughey Funeral Home in Mount Vernon, Illinois with Reverend Bill Johnson officiating. Moose Rights will be given before the service at 10:30 A.M. conducted by members of the Centralia Moose Lodge. Interment will follow at Mount Vernon Memorial Gardens in Woodlawn, Illinois.
