Juni's Story

Juni Caroline Willis Avery On May 6, 1988, Juni, aka Tuna with a 'J,' Avery, married the love of her life and the only man on the planet able to roll with her hysterical antics, Robin Avery. Juni's pride and joy are her children and grandchildren. Her children are Charles Paul "Chip" Moss, Kaci Jo Avery Cluck (Michael), and Kyle Avery (Amanda). Her grandchildren are Drake Lee Moss, Maxim Avery, Adrianna RayAnn Avery, and Camilla Gracelynn Cluck. Juni was born in Martin, Kentucky, to Ila (Wright) and Earl Willis. She was born naked and with no teeth. Being a coal mining engineer's daughter, Juni and her family moved from Eastern Kentucky, to Bluefield, West Virginia; to Benton, Illinois; to Morganfield, Kentucky; to Litchfield, Illinois; to Harrisburg, Illinois - where she graduated high school in 1973; and settled back in Benton, Illinois for the duration. Juni has worn many hats, including office manager, insurance agent, and seamstress extraordinaire. On October 12, 2016, Juni, irrepressible soul that she is and not wanting to be outdone, has beaten her siblings to glory. Juni was born April 27, 1955, disrupting the male dominance of her 3 older brothers, John Carroll Willis (Jackie), Dr. Jerrold Catron Willis (Debbie), and James Clayton Willis (Joy). She maintained her family position as the Queen Sister, even when the family increased by two more brothers, Joel Clelland Willis (Cindy) and Jeffrey Colin Willis (Elizabeth), and a younger sister, Jill Cosby Willis Butler (Richard). In addition to these, she showered her love and eccentric humor on her many many nieces, nephews, aunts, uncles, cousins, and all of her incredibly close and special friends.Juni never met a stranger and all who know her immediately think of her fun-loving, uninhibited, friendly, bubbly personality and her infectious - and often delayed - laugh. She boldly shared her love of Jesus with anyone who would listen. Juni, along with her parents and brothers John, Jerry, and Jamie, were charter members of Immanuel Baptist Church, and Juni has been an active member there for many years, singing in the choir, teaching Sunday School, and praising her sweet Savior. In early September, 2016, Juni and her siblings went on a memorable road trip to eastern Kentucky, experiencing God's precious and unexpected presence the entire trip, to visit Juni Caroline's namesake, Aunt Caroline Spurlock of Middlesboro, Kentucky, and her children. Juni rode a motorcycle and a helicopter, and danced to praise her Lord. Juni had such immense love for her grandparents, aunts, uncles, and cousins in Eastern Kentucky and in Northwest Arkansas - and they all showered their love on her in very tangible ways. Juni is loved by countless family and friends who could fill a voluminous library with funny stories and remembrances of moments with Juni. Her name can't even be spoken without a small smile or chuckle. We celebrate this side of her life and know that heaven is in for a rockin' good time now that Hooner has arrived! Services will be held at Immanuel Baptist Church, 516 N. Main St., Benton, Illinois on Saturday, October 15, 2016. Visitation will be 2:00 - 4:00, and a Memorial service will be officiated by Dr. Sammy Simmons at 4:00. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be given to Immanuel Baptist Church, 516 N. Main St., Benton, Illinois, 62812.
