June's Story

Indianola - June Craig, 95, longtime area educator and antique dealer, passed away 12:45 am on Friday, July 7, 2017 at home along with her husband "Hoot".

June was born June 15, 1922 in Georgetown, IL to Rex and Lillie Dale Gray Edmonds. She married Harold Craig on October 15, 1948 at her parent's home in Georgetown, Illinois. Surviving are: two daughters: Janey (Kim) Jolley of Fairmount, IL and Gaile (Bob) Sekerka of Lockport, IL; one grandson: Kevin (Kara) Jolley; and two great-grandchildren: Kya and Kaelyn Jolley; and one sister: Beverly Jane Smith of Davenport, Iowa. She was preceded in death by three brothers: Denzel Edmonds, Joe Edmonds, and Otis D. Edmonds; and two sisters: Virginia Penn and Susan Widman.

June taught over forty years in the Georgetown school system and owned and operated Craig's Antiques. She was a member of the Indianola Methodist Church and had taught Sunday school and had been a youth group leader. She was a member of the Order of the Eastern Star and enjoyed mushroom hunting and square dancing.

Public visitation 4 to 7 pm Thursday, July 13, 2017 at the Catlin Church of Christ. Private family graveside rites will be conducted at Woodlawn cemetery, Indianola. Memorials to the Woodlawn Cemetery Association or the Carroll Township Fire Protection District. Robison Chapel, Catlin, Illinois is handling the arrangements.
