Joseph's Story

Joseph Lee Owen, 54, of Danville, passed away at 7:52 a.m. Friday, Aug. 5, 2016 at Richard L. Roudebush VA Medical Center in Indianapolis, Ind. He was born Feb. 14, 1962, in Danville, the son of Tommy Allen and Nevia Ann (Sutton) Owen.
He is survived by his children, Renee Owen of Pontiac, Ill., Justin Owen of Dwight, Ill. and Misty Owen-Patchett of Pontiac, Ill.; siblings, Richard Owen of El Paso, Texas, Terry Owen of Ceiba, Puerto Rico, Michael Owen of Danville, Tony Owen of Dwight, Ill., Stephen Owen of Danville and Kristal Reed of Oakwood; and grandchildren, Jacob Owen, Conner Patchett and Eva Patchett.
Joseph was a U.S. Army veteran serving in Germany from 1980 to 1983. He enjoyed painting landscapes and fishing.
Funeral Services will be at 10:30 a.m. Friday, Aug. 12, at V.A. Protestant Chapel with Chaplain Ron Ziemer officiating. Burial will be in Danville National Cemetery with Military Honors by American Legion Post 210. Visitation will be from 9:30-10:30 a.m. Friday at V.A. Protestant Chapel with The Patriot Guard Honors.
