John D. Lacey, 80, of Georgetown, passed away at 9:22 p.m. Monday, October 23, 2017, at Presence Covenant Hospital, Urbana.
He was born December 6, 1936, in Danville, Ill., the son of John K. and Edith M. (Mollett) Lacey.
He was united in marriage to Patricia Day on October 25, 1958, in Danville. She will miss him dearly.
He also will be missed by his son, Johnny Bill (Melissa) Lacey of Georgetown; his daughter, Debra (Danny) Knoblett of Indianola; his grandchildren, Meghann (Chris Mullendore) Lacey of Danville and Taylor Knoblett of Indianola; his great-grandchild, Ophelia Mullendore; his brothers, Ronald "Butch" (Nancy) Lacey and Danny Ray (Marla) Lacey, both of Georgetown; his sister, Tawna (Gene) Gilbert of Georgetown; his many extended family members and friends. He was preceded in death by his parents and sister, Bonnie Saathoff.
John had worked as a meat cutter at the Eisner store and then built and operated his own store, John's Foodbasket, in Georgetown. He loved playing poker and traveling with his wife, especially visiting Las Vegas a few times a year. He was an avid Cardinals fan.
John loved his family and enjoyed his grandchildren very much. He will be missed by all who knew and loved him.
A celebration of John's life will be at 11 a.m. Friday, October 27, at Sunset's Houghton-Leasure Funeral Home, 200 E. West St., Georgetown, with Pastor John Myers officiating. Visitation will be 4-8 p.m. Thursday, October 26, at the funeral home. He will be laid to rest in Forest Park Cemetery, Georgetown.
