GEORGETOWN - John G. Fletcher, 78, of Georgetown, passed away at 10:26 a.m. Thursday, November 9, 2017, at his home.
He was born December 8, 1938, in Hoopeston, Ill., to Roy and Edith Dillard Fletcher.
John married Shirley A. Moore on January 28, 1961, in Georgetown. Shirley passed away February 18, 2015.
Survivors include a son, Michael (Laura) Fletcher; a granddaughter, Samantha (Jacob) Wolfe; a grandson, Gunner Fletcher; three great-grandchildren, Bentley Wolfe, Ely Wolfe, Lucy Wolfe. He was preceded in death by brother David Wayne Fletcher and sister Betty.
John had been a track foreman with CE&I railroad, later with Missouri Pacific, and finally Union Pacific for 36 years. He enjoyed stamp and coin collecting, metal detecting and being involved in his grandchildren's and great-grandchildren's activities.
Funeral service: noon Friday at Cumberland Presbyterian Church in Georgetown. Following cremation, burial will be in Georgetown Cemetery. Visitation is from 10 a.m. until service time Friday at the church.
