John Boy's Story
FAIRMOUNT - John Boy, "Buddy," "Toad" Walton, 64, of Fairmount, passed away at 10:34 a.m. on Tuesday, Aug. 30, 2016 in rural Fairmount as a result of an explosion.
John Boy was born Oct. 14, 1951 in Cates, Ind. to Patrick David and Joanna York Walton.
He married Vicki Lee Scott on April 2, 1972, in Danville. She survives. Also surviving are one son: Jesse Walton of Litchfield, Ill.; one brother: Michael Walton of Veedersburg, Ind.; three sisters: Lucinda "Toots" Mioduski of Georgetown, Vicki (Gary) Straw of Ohio, and Linda (Carlie) Hopkins of Greenville, Ind.; and one grandchild: Kaden Walton. He was preceded in death by one sister: Frances.
John Boy was a machinist at General Motors for 34 years. He was the maintenance man at Pay Lake at Fairmount. He enjoyed fishing, hunting and was an avid Cubs fan. He was a husband, father, best friend, fishing buddy, and role model to his family.
Memorial services: 2 p.m. on Saturday, Sept. 3, at Robison Chapel, Catlin, with Reverend Mike Roberts officiating. Visitation 12-2 p.m. on Saturday, Sept. 3, at Robison Chapel, Catlin. The family asks that everyone dress in camo.
