Joanne E. Wells, 83, passed away on Sept. 10, 2016 in Birmingham, Ala. Joanne was born on June 14, 1933 to Frank J. and Georgia Eota Watson Strahl in Danville. She graduated from Danville High School and earned her Beautician Certificate after graduation. She worked as a Beautician and owned and operated a few Beauty Shops through the years.
She married Robert F. Wells of Destin, Fla. in 1959. They had three children: Robert Scott Wells, Edward Ryan Wells, and Maryjayne Joanne Herring. They ran The SpyGlass Inn,located in Destin, in the 1960's. She earned her Real Estate license in the 1970's and worked for Tarbell Realty. Her and her husband also ran The Blue Room Restaurant, located in Destin, Fla., from1984-1992. She was a devoted Jehovah's Witness for all of her adult life.
Joanne is preceded in death by her parents, Frank and Georgia; her husband, Robert; her son, Ryan; and the following brothers and sisters: Mary Jayne Wadsworth, Margaret Francis Strahl, Marjorie Watters, Frank Strahl Jr., Barbara Gonzales, Patricia Clark, Jack Strahl, Sandra Lynch, and Janice "Toni" Naylor.
Joanne is survived by her son, Scott, of Vancouver, Wash.; her daughter, Maryjayne, of Birmingham, Ala.; her grandchildren: Kelsey Wells, Emily Wells, Jessica Wells, Wriley Herring, Drew Herring, Griffin Herring, and Olivia Herring; her sister, Georgia Lee Hanciaux; and brother, Edward Strahl.
Her favorite Bible Verse was Revelation 21:4, "He will wipe away every tear from their eyes, and there will be no more death or mourning or crying or pain, for the old order of things has passed away."
