Jimmy Vincent Scott, 71, of McLeansboro, died 1:48 p.m. Sunday, Aug. 23, 2015, at VA Medical Center in Marion. He was born May 20, 1944, in Tracy City, Tenn., the son of Howard Scott and Bessie (Dishroon) Scott. He married Rowena Hampton; she preceded him in death. He is survived by a son, James Rodger Scott of McLeansboro; a daughter, Kimberley Stover and husband Greg of Smyrna, Tenn.; five grandchildren, James Rowdy Scott, Justin Case Scott, Brandon Rodger Scott, Cassandra Leffingwell and Dillon Leffingwell; a great-grandchild, Addalynn Rene Hazel Scott; three brothers, Mike Scott of Las Vegas, Ronnie Scott of Tupelo, Miss., and Tom Scott of New Straitsville, Ohio; and three sisters, Brenda Maggio and Geraldine Appuzo of Algonquin and Edna Scott of Bloomington. He worked in several positions including a police officer and a truck driver. He was a U.S. Army veteran of the Vietnam War and served in the Special Forces Group. His body will be cremated and there will not be a formal service. Gholson Funeral Home in McLeansboro is in charge of all of the arrangements.
