Jim Leuellen, 78, McLeansboro, died 2:25 p.m. Saturday, Oct. 4, 2014, at his home. Jim was born on Oct. 13, 1935, in Odessa, Texas, the son of Robert and Thalia (Gibson) Leuellen. He married Shirley (Cummins) Leuellen and she survives in McLeansboro. He was a farmer. He had also been the store manager of Illinois Brokerage and later P.N. Hirsch for several years. He was the owner of Jim Leuellen Trucking, Inc. from 1995 to 2007. He was a member of the A.F. & A.M. Polk Lodge 137, McLeansboro; Scottish Rite Bodies of Belleville, IL and Ainad Temple Shriners, East St. Louis and a member of First United Methodist Church in McLeansboro. In addition to his wife, he is survived by five daughters, Jill Cain and husband David of Enfield, Teresa Wellen and husband Marvin of Dahlgren; Jessica, Ashley and Heidi Leuellen, all of McLeansboro; two sons, Jeff Leuellen and wife Cindy and Fred Leuellen and wife Sandi, both of McLeansboro; eight grandchildren, Jeremy Owen and wife Amy of McLeansboro, Josh Owen and wife Tara of Elberfield, Ind., Jennifer Brown and husband Jason of Lexington, Ky., Rachel Gorman and husband Jeremy of Evansville, Ind., Mary Williams and husband Brandon of Crossville, Jenna and Moriah Wellen of Dahlgren, Sydney Leuellen of Harrisburg and Johnathon Leuellen of St. Louis; 19 great-grandchildren; two sisters; and a brother. A memorial service was held 2 p.m. Tuesday, Oct. 7m at Harre Funeral Home in McLeansboro with the Rev. Larry Woodrow officiating. A Masonic service was held at 2 p.m., conducted by the A.F. & A.M. Polk Lodge 137. Per Jim’s request, he will be cremated and his cremains will be scattered during a private family service at a later date. He was preceded in death by his parents; a son, David; a granddaughter, Cheyenne Hise; and a great-granddaughter, Gabrielle Raelee Owen. Memorials may be made to the Shriner’s Children’s Hospital and will be accepted at the Harre Funeral Home in McLeansboro, which is in charge of all the arrangements.
