Jerald Lee "Jerry" Hatch, 79, of Veedersburg, Ind., passed away peacefully 9:50 a.m. Friday, Nov. 3, 2017, at his residence.
Jerry was born Dec. 18, 1937, in Crown Point, Ind., the son of Burlin and Mary (Vallee) Hatch. He married Wilma Mae (Quasebarth) June 4, 1995, in Hammond, Ind.
Surviving family include his wife, Wilma M. Hatch, Veedersburg; a daughter, Jeri Hatch (husband, Larry Traxler), Maryland; three step-children, Pam (husband, Gab) Horn, Angola, Ind., Dan (wife, Jane) Neal, Cedar Lake, Ind., and Terri (husband, Jerry) Seitzinger, Roselawn, Ind.; two sons, Jerry Allen Hatch, Jim Hatch; two sisters, Dorothy Jensen, Lowell, Ind., and Carol Dunbar, Florida; three grandchildren, five great-grandchildren, and one great-great-grandchild.
He is preceded in death by his parents; a son, Ronnie Hatch; five brothers and two sisters.
Jerry served his country in the U.S. Army. He was employed for many years at Calumet Flexicore by the Local Teamsters Union No. 142 as a truck driver. Jerry and Wilma moved to Veedersburg in 1997 and he retired shortly thereafter. He was a member of the American Legion Post No. 288 in Veedersburg and was an active member in their funeral honor guard detail. Throughout his life he had been active in competitive trap shooting.
Funeral service will be 2 p.m. (EST) Tuesday, Nov. 7, 2017, at Dickerson Funeral Home, 303 N. Main, Veedersburg IN 47987. Visitation will begin at noon (EST) Tuesday and continue until the time of service. Burial with graveside service will be 11 a.m. (CST) Wednesday, Nov. 8, 2017, at Lake Prairie Cemetery, Route 2 and US 41 near Lowell. Military Honors will be provided by the local American Legion.
