Janet Ann Kann, "Nana," 79, departed this world for heaven January 11, 2018, after a brief hospitalization. Her son, Ed, was at her side.
Janet was born February 25, 1938, to Morris and Nora Gondry.
She received the American Legion Award upon graduating from eighth grade, as did all her siblings, Al, Bob, Nora and Judy. After graduating from Westmont Township High School, she went on to receive her B.S. in Physics, Mathematics and Chemistry at Eastern Illinois University at Charleston.
Her life was truly modeled after Homer Hickham's book "October Sky."
A lover of nature and science, Janet worked in polymer research for many years. If you are flying in a plane, think of Janet as her team developed the lightweight plastics used throughout the aircraft.
She is survived by her sisters Nora and Judy, and her children, Sandy, Ed and Chris. She will be dearly missed.
In reaching for the stars, she taught those around her to overcome!
