Jane (Ramert) Frye-Smith, 68, of Danville passed away on Tuesday December 19, 2017, at Gardenview Manor Villas surrounded by her family.
Per her wishes, she will be cremated. A memorial visitation will be 10-11 a.m. Wednesday, December 27, at Pape Family Funeral Home, followed by a memorial service at 11 a.m. at Pape's.
Jane was born March 23, 1949, in Clinton Ind., to Roy and Dorothy (Bonwell) Ramert, and raised on a farm outside of Scottland, Ill.
Jane graduated from Georgetown High School in 1967, DACC in 1969, and then Southern Illinois University in 1971. She was employed by JoAnn Fabrics, and later at Wal-Mart. She was a beautiful seamstress and loved to dance. She loved her family and spending time with her grandkids, and nieces and nephews.
She married Richard Frye on December 9, 1972, and they shared over 30 years until his passing in 2003. She then married George Smith on August 30, 2006. He survives.
Also surviving are her brothers, Dale (Peggy) Ramert and Don (Sue) Ramert; nephews, Jason (Pam) Ramert, Justin (Jamie) Ramert and Dale A. Ramert; stepdaughter, Rita Smith; and stepson, Don (Sandy) Smith; nine grandchildren; 14 great-grandchildren and two great-great grandchildren. Alexis Schumacher was her special pride and joy.
Jane was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Richard Frye; sister, Madalyn Ramert.
