Jim LaFoe, 67, of Fithian, passed away Tuesday, December 12, 2017, at Carle Foundation Hospital in Urbana.
Services will be at 12:30 p.m. Monday, December 18, 2017, at The VA Protestant Chapel. Visitation will be 10:30 a.m.-12:30 p.m. at the chapel. Burial will follow at the Danville National Cemetery with military honors by the Catlin American Legion.
Jim was born December 23, 1949, in Danville to James Arthur and Mary (Boswell) LaFoe.
He enlisted in the U.S. Army and served during Vietnam, in which he received multiple medals and commendations. Following his return from the service, Jim worked as a machinist for Dines Machine Shop and later Frasca International. In his free time, Jim enjoyed fishing and taking vacations. He was also a gun enthusiast.
Jim married Brenda Kimmell on October 2, 1975, and the two have shared over 42 years together.
Survivors include his wife, Brenda; his children, Jimmy (Angela) LaFoe, Jason (Danelle) LaFoe, Nikki LaFoe (Eric Duncan) and Tyler LaFoe; two grandchildren whom he has raised as his own, Kane LaFoe and Dominick LaFoe; seven additional grandchildren, Skyeler (Kyle) Swisher, Courtney LaFoe, Carly Jo LaFoe, Nathan Brigham, Liam James Earl LaFoe, Dwayne James Duncan and Dmari Duncan; and one great-grandchild, Raelyn Swisher. He also will be greatly missed by his sister, Debra LaFoe; his brother-in-law and sister-in-law, Frank and Mary Kay Kimmell; a special nephew, Ramiro Jimenez; and his dog Yoda. He was preceded in death by his parents, three brothers and one sister.
