James Jim McCrone James "Jim" McCrone, 71, of Georgetown, passed away at 1:50 a.m. Tuesday, September 11, 2018, at his home.
He was born in Mena, Ark., on September 28, 1946, the son of John A. McCrone Jr. and Vivian (Potter) McCrone.
He was united in marriage to Vicki Seilhymer on June 23, 1979, in Georgetown. She will miss him dearly.
He also will be missed by his sons, Christopher (Jeaneen) McCrone, Mark McCrone and Thomas (Annie) McCrone, all of Georgetown; his daughter, Marcie McCrone of Georgetown; his grandchildren, Bridget Barker of Olivet and Dakota "K.K." McCrone of Tilton; his sister, Barbara White of Winona, Mo.; his sister-in-law, Jean McCrone; and his niece, Kelly Shepard and her family of Westville. He was preceded in death by his parents, his brother, Bill, and his grandson Jonathon.
Jim was a proud veteran of the U.S. Marines. He worked for the VA in Danville for 32 years before retiring.
He loved remote-controlled airplanes and was a master mechanic who could fix anything and really was a "jack of all trades." Jim was known to be mild-mannered and never met a stranger and, above all else, loved his family, especially his grandkids.
A Memorial Service will be at 2 p.m. Sunday, September 16, at Sunset's Houghton-Leasure Funeral Home, 200 E. West St., Georgetown, with Pastor James Blue officiating. Visitation will be held for two hours prior to his service at the funeral home. He will be laid to rest in Georgetown Cemetery with military rites conducted by the American Legion Dornblaser Post 203.
Memorial donations may be given in his name to St. Jude's Children's Hospital Cancer Research. Please join his family in sharing memories through his Tribute Wall at www.sunsetfuneralhome.com
