Jacqueline Julia (Hornbuckle) Easley passed this life on Monday, Aug. 14, 2017, at her residence when she was called home to glory.
She was born Sept. 25, 1939, to Theodore Hornbuckle (Cairo) and Margret Louise (Huffman) Hornbuckle (Danville). She was a life resident of Danville where she attended Danville schools until graduating from Danville High School 1957 and went on to graduate and be licensed as an Licensed Practical Nurse.
She married James Edward Davis (Tuscaloosa, Ala.) in which two children were conceived, Kevin Maurice Davis and Lori Michelle Davis. She later married Matthew Moore, Sr. who is deceased.
Jacqueline started her working career at the former St. Elizabeth Hospital where she worked in the Emergency Department. She later went on to work in the office of Dr. Hensel before retiring as a Teacher Aide with Danville School District 118.
Jacqueline was a God-fearing woman and her faith was in Jesus Christ. She was an active member of Allen Chapel A.M.E. Church. Being a member of the church, she was a Torchlighter of the Missionary Society and an active member of the Lay Organization of the A.M.E Church. She was a Past Matron of Golden Rod Chapter No. 55 Order of Eastern Stars. A Charter member of James Gayles Court No. 86 Heroines of Jericho, Champaign, Ill., and a Past Commandress of Sudan Court No. 93 and Past Loyal Lady Ruler Menelik Assembly No. 58.
She's survived by her son, Kevin Maurice; step-sister, Lucia(Malcolm)Green; grandson, Rodrekis R. Davis(Georgia); granddaughter, Tiffany Rene' Davis; grandsons, Christopher M. Davis, Cory M. Davis and Cameran M. Davis of Syracuse, New York, and Jarrin Davis (Iowa); best lifelong friend, Mary Heyward Benson; Theodore Easley; seven great-grandchildren, Jayla R. Davis, Ma 'Kayla R. Cook and Rodrekis R. Davis, Jr. of Augusta, Ga.; Janih Davis, Jailee Davis and Khylin Davis of Danville and Jaden Mikal Beauregard of Iowa.
She was preceded in death by her parents and her daughter, Lori.
Services will commence at noon, Tuesday, Aug. 22, 2017, at Allen Chapel AME Church, 503 N. Jackson Street, Danville. Visitation will begin at 11 a.m. until the start of the service. Officiating: Pastor Steve Perkins. Interment: Spring Hill Cemetery. Leek & Sons Funeral Home, 304 E. Williams Street, Danville, in charge of arrangements.
