Irene C. Makemson, 90, of Chattanooga, Tennessee, passed away on Wednesday, August 30, 2017.
Mrs. Makemson was born on May 26, 1927, in Danville, Illinois, to the late Arthur F. and Eileen Kramp.
Irene was retired from Sears. Following retirement, she became the proprietor of the gift shop at the Reid House. She was also an active member for many years in the League of Women Voters.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Carl Eugene Makemson; son, Paul Makemson; and daughter, Nancy Phillips.
Survivors include her daughter, Theresa (Vesa) Silegren; sons, Mark (Sara) Makemson, Larry Makemson, David Makemson (James Smart); daughter-in-law, Sherry Makemson; grandchildren, Ray (Sherri) Morgan, Carol Tinsley, Jim (Ashley) Makemson, Judi (Grayson) Jacobs, Craig (Margie) Morgan; several great-grandchildren; and brother, Art (Beverly) Kramp.
Funeral services will be conducted Tuesday, September 5, 2017, at 12:30 p.m. in the Valley View Chapel of Chattanooga Funeral Home with Pastor Steve Ball officiating. Interment will follow at the Chattanooga National Cemetery.
The family will receive friends 11 a.m.-12:30 p.m. Tuesday at the funeral home.
