Henry Falconio Jr.

Henry Falconio Jr., 93, of Westville, passed away at 5:49 p.m. Thursday, February 7, 2019, at OSF Heart of Mary Medical Center, Urbana.
He was born the son of Henry Sr. and Mary (Marietta) Falconio on June 18, 1925, in Universal, Ind.
On February 18, 1950, he was united in marriage to Mary Maritano at St. Mary's Catholic Church in Westville, until her passing on May 17, 2017.
Henry graduated from Georgetown High School in 1943. He was a proud Veteran of the U.S. Army and served in the 744th Railroad Operations Battalion from 1943 to 1946. He also served as the Westville Fire Chief from 1958-1963.
Together with Mary, they started Falconio TV Sales & Service in 1952 and then with Charles Strebin in 1965, they started SeeMore Cable TV until they retired in 1982. In 1994, Henry was the Westville Labor Day Honoree and was Commercial-News' Christmas Angel in 1999.
He received the Pere Marquette Award from the Diocese of Peoria in 2001. One of his most notable achievements was his completion of Trail No. 3 at Turkey Run on his 80th birthday.
Henry was a member of St. Mary's Catholic Church and volunteered much of his time there, as well as Schlarman and along with his wife, Mary, they also volunteered with Faith in Action Meals on Wheels.
He was known to his loving family as "Mr. Fix-It," the Comedian, Dad's Taxi Service, and with Mary, their biggest cheerleader. He was always busy with something and stayed active throughout his life. So busy, that even during his rehabilitation they would say to him, "Slow down, Henry!" He was a hands-on grandfather who traveled, taught and was a great mentor to them and attended any activity that involved his grandkids.
With his recent move to Autumn Fields in Tilton, Henry enjoyed the staff while living there. The family would like to extend a big "Thank You" to Marol-Lee Knight for taking such good care of Dad.
So rest now, Pops. You will be greatly missed by sons, Richard Falconio, Robert Falconio and John (Tammy Pickering) Falconio, all of Westville; daughters, Linda (Joseph Sanford) Falconio MD, of Oceanside, Calif., Diane (Joe) Shapuras of Westville, Patricia (David) Leader of Westville, Marcia (Jack) Good Sr. of Indianapolis, and Ann (Danny) Rudd of Westville; his grandchildren, Jason (Shea Roark) Shapuras, Jack Good Jr., Brian (Sarah Miller) Shapuras, Mandi (Tom) Fahey, Megan (Jake) Zedrick, Sara (Jeremy) Humphrey, Brittany Falconio, Staci (Kelbey McMath) Rudd, Eric (Carey Heide) Falconio, Bradley Falconio, Stefani (Bryan) Concannon, Aubrey Falconio, Miranda Falconio and Antonella Falconio; his great-grandchildren, Jacob Fahey, Joe Fahey, Camille Fahey and Brendan Humphrey, along with a special "grandson," T.J.; his sister-in-law, Mary Alice Falconio; many special nieces and nephews; and numerous extended family and friends. He was preceded in death by his parents; his son, Paul; daughter-in-law, Brenda; and brother, James.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be at 10 a.m. Tuesday, February 12, at St. Mary's Catholic Church, 231 N. State St., Westville, with Father Timothy Sauppe officiating. Westville has lost a Pillar of the Community. Very sad news. Henry was a friend to all he met, and he, along with Mary and the entire Falconio Family, helped our family during our darkest hours and never asked for anything in return. I will forever be grateful to him and thankful to God for giving all of us Henry and his family. May you rest in peace Henry.
