Guadalupe's Story

Text size

Guadalupe Olvera Jr. lost his battle with cancer and went to be with the Lord on April 12, 2017, while surrounded by his family. He is flying high with the angels and going through no more pain.
Lupe was born March 15, 1952, to Guadalupe Olvera Sr. and Maria Victoria Gonzales in Aurora, Ill.
Lupe was an unforgettable man. He enjoyed sitting outside with his Miller High Life and loved family gatherings. He lived every day to the fullest and always carried a smile on his face. He was an incredible grandfather and such a strong man. He loved his family and was very proud of them.
Guadalupe married Elizabeth Olvera on Jan. 25, 1972. Even though divorced, they continued to be great friends. They share three sons, Guadalupe Olvera, Ricardo Olvera and Vincent Olvera, and a special daughter, Rosa Olvera. He developed a special bond with three of his grandchildren, Selena, Mya Sandlin and Antonio Olvera. Other grandchildren include Jose Torres, Sydnee Gooch, and Madilynn and Liam John Olvera.
Surviving family includes two sisters, Maria V. (Rufino) Cerda, Anita (Armando) Quintanilla, and brother Pedro Alvarez; a special niece, Norma Beckner; his crazy cousin, Gilbert Zepada; and several nieces, nephews and cousins.
Per his wishes, he will be cremated at Sunset Funeral Home, Danville.
