Grover Dean Lappin, 81, of Danville, Ill., passed this life at 7:41 Aug. 26, 2017.
He was born to Oliver and Ida Lappin on Feb. 12, 1936, in Danville.
On July 4, 1969, he married the love of his life Carol Sue Dokey in Danville.
He was proceeded in death by his parents, all his siblings, his son Timothy and loving wife, Carol.
Grover worked for Windbreaker factory, Voorhees Lumber Mart and later District 118, where he retired. He loved sports and fishing, but, most important, spending time with his family.
He is survived by a son, Richard Lappin of Westville, Ill.; two daughters, Ellen (Eric) Watts of Hillsdale, Ind., and Jennifer Lappin of Danville. He also is survived by his beloved grandchildren, Jessica Kingore of Georgetown, lll., Kati Lappin of Kent, Ohio, Corey (Te'Erika) Lappin of Danville, Callie (Douglass) Huckelberry of Oceanside, Calif., and Tara Lappin of Westville. He took special joy in his great-grandchildren Michael Huckelberry of Oceanside, Calif., Ma'Kenlee Lappin of Danville and was looking forward to the birth of a third in December. He also is survived by nieces, nephews and other family.
He was cared for in his final days by his family, a very special brother and sister-in-law, James and Pat Dokey of Danville, and special friends Barb Rose, AB and Rachel Taylor, all of Danville.
As per his wishes, there will be a graveside service for family and friends at 2:30 p.m. Thursday, Aug. 31, at Spring Hill Cemetery in Danville.
Rortvedt Funeral Services& Crematory in Tilton is assisting the family.
