Gertrude Elizabeth Yoho, 109, of Danville, left us peacefully on Monday, Feb. 27, 2017.
A visitation will be on Thursday, March 2, at Holy Family Catholic Church, 444 E. Main Street from 10:30-11 a.m., with mass immediately following by Father Loftus. Graveside rites will follow at Resurrection Cemetery.
Gertrude was born on Oct. 22, 1907, in Georgetown, to Clarence and Catherine (O-Donnell) Strader. She attended Douglas Grade School and Danville High School. Throughout the years, Gertrude worked at Sugar Creek Creamery, Consolidated Food Products, and Kraft Foods, in numerous different positions, but mainly in laboratory testing. She could often be found outside, as she enjoyed gardening- plants, flowers, and vegetables. Gertrude was a longtime member of Holy Family Catholic Church and was involved in home visitations for the sick, the Rosary Society, clothes and food drives, and helped in the office as well.
Gertrude married Herschell Yoho in 1929, in Danville, and the two later divorced. While she had no children of her own, Gertrude leaves behind her four nieces and nephews: David (Jackie) Kirk, Ronald Kirk, Kathleen (Daniel) Strako, and Rosemary Strebin. She was preceded in death by her parents and all of her siblings: Margaret McElwee, Robert Strader, George Strader, Charles Strader, William Strader, and Catherine Kirk.
Messages and memories may be left on our website at www.papefuneral.com, or on the Pape Family Funeral Home Facebook page. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made in Gertrude's name to Holy Family Catholic Church.
