Georgia Ruth Walden, 99, of Princeton, Ind., and formerly of McLeansboro, passed away 4:55 a.m. Thursday, March 3, 2016, at The Waters Nursing Home in Princeton, Ind. She was born in McLeansboro, the daughter of William Edward Mitchelland Orpha Jeannetta (Henson) Mitchell. She was married to Estel Leon Walden on June 24, 1942. He passed away. She is survived by son, Wendell Leon Walden and wife Angela ofPrinceton, Ind.; daughter, Jennie Lou Brockman and husband Gary ofToledo, Ohio; six grandchildren, Nora Nixon (Brad) of Princeton, Ind., James Walden (Toni) of Princeton, Ind., Beth Walden (Brenda) - Evansville, Ind., Heather and Kevin Brockman – Toledo, Ohio and Amber Bernal (Iric) of Columbus, Ohio; 13 great-grandchildren, Lacy, Logan and Miranda Nixon, Dakota, Garrett and Jordon Brockman, Iric and Julian Bernal, Ian, Drew, Levi, Claire and Gavin Samuel Lee Walden; two step-grandchildren, John Latella of Buffalo, N.Y., and Julia Latella of Las Vegas; cousin, Phyllis (Don) Cissell of St. Louis; and nephew, David (Lois) Lefly of Chicago. She was preceded in death by her parents; husband of 60 years; and sister, Mary Blanche Lefly. Funeralwas held Monday, March 7 at Harre Funeral Home with the Rev. Mark Byars officiating. Burial was at Blooming Grove Cemetery in McLeansboro. Visitation was held Monday, March 7, at Harre Funeral Home in McLeansboro. She was a homemaker and helped on the family dairy farm. She worked at a local café baking their pies, which she was famous for. Later she worked at the Decatur Dress Factory in McLeansboro. She was a lifelong Baptist and member of Smith Chapel Missionary Baptist Church until it closed. She then moved her membership to the First Baptist Church in McLeansboro. Harre Funeral Home, McLeansboro, is in charge of all arrangements.
