Georgia Lucile Cook, 92, of Danville, passed away at 2:45 a.m. Tuesday, March 6, 2018, at Hawthorne Inn.
She was born September 8, 1925, in Oelwein, Iowa, the daughter of Roscoe and Ota Jane Scales. She spent her early years growing up on the farm, moving to southern Indiana after graduating high school in Maynard, Iowa.
Georgia is survived by her husband of 66 years, Robert Cook. They were married on August 4, 1951, in Evansville, Ind.
Georgia also is survived by her daughters, Janet (Joe) Petrick, Joyce (Eric) Nelson; sons, Gary (Meryl) Cook, Brian (Kathy) Cook; grandchildren, Kevin (Kelly) Cook, Jeff (Allison) Petrick, Mike Petrick, Daniel Nelson, Kelly Nelson, Taylor (Angela) Cook, Allison Cook, Jonathan Cook; great-grandchildren, Collin Cook and Mary Cook.
She is preceded in death by her parents and sisters June Ingram and Darlene Tubbs.
She enjoyed extensive travel with her husband, spending time with her family, playing golf and gardening. Georgia and Bob enjoyed square dancing and were active members of Danville's Frontier Twirlers.
Visitation will be 1-2 p.m. Monday, March 12, at Sunset Funeral Home and Cremation Center, 3940 N. Vermilion St., Danville. A private service will follow visitation. In lieu of flowers, donations may be sent to the Alzheimer's Association.
