George's Story

Text size

Our precious daddy and grandpa left this broken world and was welcomed into the loving arms of Jesus on Saturday, December 23, 2017, surrounded by his loving family in his home. George Chrisman was born on April 27, 1927, in Ridge Farm, Ill., to Charles and Rossee (Anderson) Chrisman.
On October 18, 1952, George married the love of his life, Beverly Livengood. They made their home in Georgetown, Ill., where they enjoyed 36 years of marriage prior to her being welcomed into heaven by her Savior.
George was a carpenter who enjoyed his craft. He paid close attention to detail and was meticulous in his approach to any job, regardless of whether it was large or small. He had a passion for gardening, especially flowers. Many people benefitted from his love of baking, especially his family, who loved his chocolate chip cookies.
He was always involved in projects with his grandchildren, which included a playhouse for his granddaughter, and a cabin for his grandsons. He was a kind and patient man who enjoyed spending time with his family. His loving care and quiet presence will be greatly missed.
However, we do not sorrow as those that have no hope because we know that George placed his dependence in Jesus Christ as his Savior and Lord. It is a comfort to know that one day we will be reunited with him. He was a faithful member of Bethel Baptist Church in Georgetown, Ill., for over 50 years. After moving to Springfield, he became a member of Grace Baptist Church.
George is survived by his two daughters, Karen (Gary) Froman of Danville, Ill., and Kathy Greer of Springfield, Ill., with whom he made his home; five grandchildren, Paul (Lindsay) Froman of Danville, Ill., John (Stormy) Froman of Florence, Ala., David (Brittney) Froman of Rogersville, Ala., Mary (Jonathan) Mott of Kimberly, Idaho, and Mark Froman of Rogersville, Ala.; six great-grandchildren, Landon and Blakely Froman, Honor and Liam Froman, Whitley Froman, and Andy Mott; and several nieces and nephews.
Funeral Service: 10:30 a.m. Saturday, December 30, 2017, at Grace Baptist Church, 2812 S. Walnut, Springfield, with Pastor Robert Shaw officiating.
There will be a brief memorial service for friends and family in the mausoleum at Sunset Memorial Park in Danville, Ill., on Saturday, December 30, 2017 at 3 p.m.; George's son-in-law, Gary Froman, will officiate.
The family of George L. Chrisman is being served by Kirlin-Egan & Butler Funeral Home, 900 S. 6th St., Springfield.
