Fred M. Hobson, 81, of West Lebanon, Ind., died at 7:15 a.m. EST Saturday, November 25, 2017, at the Williamsport Nursing & Rehabilitation Center.
Fred was born November 23, 1936, in Covington, Ind. He was the son of Fred D. Hobson and Mildred (Snoddy) Miller. Fred attended Covington schools. He served in the U.S. Army from 1954-1959.
On December 6, 1964, he married Peggy Murphy in West Lebanon. She survives.
Fred was a welder at Hyster in Danville, Ill., from 1978 until he retired in 2001. He enjoyed stock car racing and liked to build race cars. He was very patriotic and would have defended the United States until his death. He loved his grandchildren.
Surviving are, wife, Peggy Hobson of West Lebanon; two children, Tony Hobson of Richmond, Ind., and Kelly S. Bush (Matt) of West Lebanon; two grandchildren, KreeAnne Booher and Jason Bush; and a great-grandson, Ronnie Jase Purcell. Fred was preceded in death by his mother; stepfather, Harris Miller; and sister, Diane Keller.
Visitation will be at Grady Funeral Home in West Lebanon on Thursday, November 30, from 1 p.m. EST until service at 2 p.m. EST with Rev. David Lawrence officiating. Inurnment will follow at West Lebanon Cemetery.
