Florine E. Savage, 87, of Belle Rive, died 9:02 p.m. Thursday, Aug. 21, 2014, at Good Samaritan Regional Health Center in Mt. Vernon. She was born June 15, 1927, in Dahlgren, the daughter of Carl Raymond and Flora Slayden (Clark) McNair. She married Dean Savage on March 8, 1947, and they were married for 67 years. She was a homemaker whose hobbies were tending her flower gardens and sewing and making quilts for her family. She was a member of Dahlgren Missionary Baptist Church where she served as Sunday school secretary from 1946 to 2010, serving 46 years. In addition to her husband, she is survived by a son, Russell Dean Savage and wife Brenda of Belle Rive; a daughter, Rosalie Lynn Skaggs and husband Nicholas “Randy” of Belle Rive; four grandchildren, James Robert Savage of Fairfield, Jason Dean Savage and wife Dawn of Mill Shoals, Jessica Michelle Kuykendall of Fairfield and Nicholas Randal Skaggs and wife Katrina of Springfield; three great-grandchildren, Baily Jo Shaw, Ava Grace Shaw and Gage Ryder Savage; Brenda’s sons, Jesse and Travis Ackley; Randy’s daughter, Mandi McMinn and her children, Isabel and Allison McMinn; Dawn’s son, Sabastian Williams; and several nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents; two brothers, Carl Raymond McNair of Oklahoma and Melvin Wesley McNair of Indiana; and one sister, Nada Upchurch of Dahlgren. Funeral servicea were held 10:30 a.m. Monday at Gholson Funeral Home in Dahlgren with the Rev. Brad Sloan officiating. Interment was at IOOF Cemetery in Dahlgren. For those who wish, memorials may be made to Dahlgren Missionary Baptist Church to help Tuck Point the church building and will be accepted at Gholson Funeral Home.
