Fleeta M.'s Story
Fleeta M. Schultz, 95, of Danville passed away January 15, 2018, at Presence United Samaritans Medical Center in Danville.
She was born November 12, 1922, in Danville, the daughter of Alva and Myrtle (Pearson) Hicks.
Fleeta married Ralph C. Schultz on January 22, 1942, in Champaign, Ill. He preceded her in death in 2015.
Fleeta will be deeply missed by her two sons, Stephen (Clellene) Schultz of Danville and Larry (Molly) Schultz also of Danville; three grandchildren; four step-grandsons; and 13 great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her parents, husband, brothers Homer and Clyde Hicks, sister Maxine Leisch, and beloved twin sister, Frieda Hedgpeth.
Early in her life while the boys were young, Fleeta was a homemaker. When the boys were older and went off to school, she started work in the obstetrics department at St. Elizabeth's. Fleeta went on to beauty school in Danville, got her beautician's license and opened her own shop at the house. After many years of doing hair, she stared working at Lakeview in medical records until her retirement.
Fleeta and Ralph attended Farmer's Chapel United Methodist Church in Danville, loved to travel and go ballroom dancing.
A celebration of Fleeta's life will be at 3 p.m. Saturday, January 20, at Sunset Funeral Home and Cremation Center in Danville. Visitation will be 1-3 p.m. prior to the service. Entombment will take place at Sunset Memorial Park.
