Evelyn C. Meador, 93, of Hoopeston, passed away at 9:38 a.m. Monday, Aug. 7, 2017, at her home. She was born Sept. 20, 1923, in Nobob, Ky., the daughter of Lennie and Beulah (Hood) Crabtree. She married Delbert W. Meador on March 28, 1942, in Summer Shade, Ky. He preceded her in death.
She is survived by two daughters, Martha J. Meador of Hoopeston, and Doris J. (Steve) Kelley of Cedar Falls, Iowa; two sons, Delbert L. "Ben" (Chris) Meador of Walton, Ind., and Terry W. (Linda) Meador of Collison; one sister, Patsy Martin of Glasgow, Ky.; four grandsons; 13 great-grandchildren and eight great-great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her parents; one grandson, Delbert E. Meador; five sisters and six brothers.
Evelyn worked at TRW for more than 20 years. She later worked at G.E. for 18 years, until her retirement. She was a member of the First Christian Church Disciples of Christ in Hoopeston. Evelyn volunteered at the Hoopeston Multi-Agency for 14 years. She loved flowers and gardening and enjoyed embroidery, collecting antique dishes and spending time with her family.
A visitation will be held 2:30-4:30 p.m. Thursday, Aug. 10, 2017, at Anderson Funeral Home, 427 E. Main St. Hoopeston. The funeral service will follow the visitation and will begin at 4:30 p.m. Thursday at the funeral home, with Rev. Tom Cici and Pastor Bill Collins officiating. Burial will follow in Floral Hill Cemetery in Hoopeston.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made in Evelyn's memory to the First Christian Church Disciples of Christ, 502 E. Main St. Hoopeston, IL 60942.
