Erma Emily Cade, 98, of Cheneyville, passed away at 9:11 p.m. Friday, Feb. 9, 2018, at her home in Cheneyville. She was born Feb. 5, 1920, in Morocco, Ind., the daughter of Curtis and Icie (Edwards) Kersey. She married Icel E. Cade on Aug. 17, 1936, in Urbana. He preceded her in death.
She is survived by one daughter, Shirley A. Hall of Hoopeston; one son-in-law, Jack Hancock of Watseka; one brother, Herb Kersey of Gibson City; 13 grandchildren, Jackie Worthey, Warren Hancock, Richard Hancock, Debra Henrichs, Darla Carlson, Ginger Grant, Barry Hall, Heather Barnes, Heidi Cade, Marilyn Pickett, Marie Haltiwanger, Ronnie Gene Cade and Michelle Cade; many great-grandchildren; and one nephew, Marty (Jackie) Kersey of La Plata, Md.
She was preceded in death by her parents; one daughter, Edna; two sons, Donald Cade and Ronnie Glenn Cade; one granddaughter, Joyce Hall Whitley; and one grandson, Robbie Hancock.
Erma worked at TRW in Hoopeston. She later cleaned houses with her daughter, Shirley. She was a member of the Cheneyville Christian Church, where she also served as the church secretary and Sunday school teacher. She enjoyed quilting, working crossword puzzles, and watching college basketball and the Chicago Cubs.
Cremation rites will be accorded and a burial will be held at a later date.
