DANVILLE - Eldon D. Larkin, 89, of Danville, formerly of Potomac, passed away at 2:45 a.m. on Wednesday, March 8, 2017 at his home with his wife by his side.
Eldon was born on Sept. 13, 1927, west of Potomac, the son of Lorie and Blenda (Fredrickson) Larkin.
He married June I. Pruitt on April 4, 1948 and she survives.
Survivors include his wife of 68 years, June; one son, Larry (Cynthia) Larkin of Danville; one daughter, Carolyn (John) Howie of Potomac; one brother, Gary (Margaret) Larkin of Champaign; two sisters, Margaret (Roy) Hilgendorf of Loda, Ill. and Joan Brewer of Mt. Vernon, Mo.; two grandchildren, Michael Howie of Danville and Amy Larkin of Urbana; as well as nine great-grandchildren.
Eldon is preceded in death by his parents and one brother, Marvin Larkin.
Eldon was employed at Biggs Motor Company for 18 years. He left Biggs and went to Hyster and retired after 23 years of service there. After retirement from Hyster, he became a greater at Wal-Mart for seven years. Eldon loved spending his free time hunting and fishing.
A Celebration of Life Service will be held at 10 a.m. on Tuesday, March 14, at Sunset Funeral Home and Cremation Center, 3940 N. Vermilion Street Danville, IL 61832. Drew Mentzer will officiate. Burial will be in Stearns Cemetery, Fithian. Visitation will be held from 5-7 p.m. March 13, at the funeral home.
