Edwin Duane Donoho was born on March 5, 1952 in Mount Vernon, Illinois to Orville and Clara (Outland) Donoho. He passed away on Sunday October 15, 2017 at Mount Vernon Countryside Manor in Mount Vernon, Illinois. Ed was 65 years old and until July of this year, lived and worked in Mount Vernon, Missouri.
During his high school years, at Webber Township High in Bluford, Ed was very well known throughout southern Illinois as an exceptional baseball and basketball player. Many considered him one of the best athletes in the state, with one radio announcer proclaiming him the young man with ice-water in his veins.
Ed was a kind, fun and loving father to his three children, Brian, Jessica and Shelbie, and daughter-in-law, Beth. They are all still living, as are his eight grandchildren, Shylie, Kobe, Alex, Brooklyn, Payton, Edyn, Mason, and Kylie. He is also survived by his sister, Janet Johnson and husband, Dennis and brother, Lanny Donoho.
Ed was preceded in death by his parents and older brother, Leon Donoho.
Ed was an amazingly gifted man. Anything he put his mind to, he did exceptionally well. He was, as mentioned before, a great basketball and baseball player, an exceptional golfer, an amazing woodworker, photographer and videographer. He was also known for his sarcastic wit, his sense of humor, and great love of music. Ed had the capacity to see things clearly and was always willing to fight for what he thought was right. Ed fought his cancer with dignity and grace and finally won his quest for peace. He will be missed by all of us who loved him.
