Edna L. Hampton, 89, of Enfield, died Tuesday, Aug. 18, 2015, at Hamilton Memorial Hospital in McLeansboro. She was born June 5, 1926, in Enfield, the daughter of Billy Phillips and Grace (Hosick) Phillips. She married Wilson E. Hampton July 10, 1948, in Morganfield, Ky.; he preceded her in death Nov. 1, 1971. She is survived by a son, William Hampton and wife Vicki of Enfield; a daughter, Linda Ganoe and husband Kenneth of Enfield; seven grandchildren, Bradley Earl Brooks and special friend Shelly, Jenell Overturf and husband Kyle, Tammy Wilken and husband Paul, Christina Hampton, Melanie Hampton, Christopher Nipper and Charlotte Nipper; and 14 great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her husband; a brother, Robert Phillips; and three sisters, Ollie Story, Mabel Thompson and Helen Phillips. She worked as a pharmacy technician at Ruemlers Drugstore in Enfield. She was a valedictorian of the Enfield Class of 1944. She played the piano for over 40 years at Enfield General Baptist Church. Funeral services were held 10 a.m. Friday, Aug. 21, at Stendeback Family Funeral Home in Enfield. The visitation was held from 5 to 7 p.m. Thursday, Aug. 20, at Stendeback Family Funeral Home. Burial was at Brush Harbor Cemetery in Hamilton County. Stendeback Family Funeral Home in Enfield is in charge of all of the arrangements.
