Elmwood Eddie Bud Maurice Glover, 68, of Elmwood died at 1:00 p.m. on Friday, July 7, 2017, at his home with his family by his side.
He was born on December 20, 1948, in Mount Vernon, IL, and was the oldest son to Maurice and Betty (Wheeler) Glover, of Woodlawn, IL. He married Diana Robinson on December 5, 1975, in Granite City, Illinois. They would have celebrated 42 years of marriage in December. She survives.
Also surviving are one child, Patric (Shannon) Glover of Elmwood; three grandchildren, Shelby, Brianna, and Taylor Glover of Elmwood; five siblings, Kathy (Frank) Thatcher of Colorado Springs, CO, Betty Buck of Mount Vernon, IL, Mary (Danny) Ward, of Macon, IL, Robby (Robin) Glover of Ashley, IL, William (Kelli) Glover of Plymouth, IN; a very special aunt, Dorothy Glover Morgan of Mount Vernon, IL; and several nieces, nephews, and cousins.
He is preceded in death by his parents, Maurice and Betty Glover; fraternal grandparents, Elmer and Virgie Glover; and maternal grandparents, D.O. and Myrtle Wheeler.
Eddie was a 1966 graduate of Woodlawn High School, and then he attended Rend Lake College. He also served in the Vietnam War with the U.S. Army Gun Truck Unit 444. After the war, he became a Recruiter for the Army National Guard. He served his country for 23 years.
After his retirement he worked for Ben Franklin in Farmington, Walmart, and Dollar General. Eddie also had a passion for fishing and the outdoors.
Cremation rites have been accorded. A Celebration of Life service will be held at 3:00 p.m. on Wednesday, July 12, 2017, at Oaks-Hines Funeral Home in Elmwood. Another memorial service will be held at 2:00 p.m., on Friday, July 14, 2017, at the Community Center in Woodlawn, IL. Eddie will be laid to rest with full military rites at Arlington National Cemetery, in Arlington, Virginia, at a later date.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to St. Jude Childrens Hospital.
