Douglas Lee Walker, 63 of Davenport, Iowa, formerly of Danville, transitioned to his eternal home on Thursday, Sept. 7, 2017, at Presence USMC.
Douglas, known to many as Blue or Coda, was born Jan. 8, 1954, in Danville, to Gregory and Nawassa Anding. He was later adopted by his maternal grandparents, Charles and Lizzie Mae Walker. He graduated from Danville High School in 1972.
Douglas worked at Herff Jones in Champaign until 2011 when he relocated to Davenport, Iowa. He enjoyed working on cars and helping his parents with the upkeep of their home. He also enjoyed spending time with his family and friends. To know Doug, Blue or Coda whichever you called him was to love him.
In addition to his parents, he is survived by six brothers, Gregory (Iris) Anding and Robbie (Cheryl) Walker of Champaign, David Anding of Davenport, Iowa, Harland Anding, Larry Anding and Johnnie Walker of Danville; and seven sisters, Willodene Ridgeway and Lenora Anding of Decatur, Brenda Relliford of Terre Haute, Ind., Carolyn (Felder) Richard, Jacqueline (Elroy) Clark of Danville, Elizabeth Walker of California, and Latasha Walker of Mississippi; five children, Angela (Eddie) Bates, of Danville, Douglas Walker Jr., Denaris Walker and Dyeena Meads of Champaign, Deandre Walker of Rantoul; and one stepchild, Kianna Meads of Champaign; and seven grandchildren. He also has a childhood friend, Don Chapman of Danville; two close friends, Dennis Nash and Chester Brown of Champaign; and a host of relatives and friends.
Doug was proceeded in death by both maternal and paternal grandparents and his brothers Charles Anding and Fredrick Walker.
Homegoing service will commence at noon Friday, Sept. 15,, at New Life Church of Faith, 1419 N. Bowman Ave., Visitation will be 11 a.m. until the time of service. Officiate: Pastor Lucious Barber. The Eulogist will be Pastor Byron Smith. Cremation will follow. A public viewing will be 1-5 p.m. Thursday, Sept. 14, at Leek & Sons Funeral Home, 304 E. Williams, Danville.
