Dorothy Brockett, 92, of McLeansboro, passed away 12:10 p.m. Wednesday, June 21, 2017, at Hamilton Memorial Nursing & Rehabilitation Center in McLeansboro.
Visitation was held 9 to 11 a.m. Saturday, June 24, 2017, at Star General Baptist Church in Eldorado.
Funeral service was 11 a.m. Saturday, June 24, at Star General Baptist Church with Brother Mike Phelps officiating. Burial was at Braden Valley Cemetery in Dale.
She was born Oct. 27, 1924, in Eldorado, the daughter of Elman Carter and Ina (Reichelderfer) Carter. She married John Carlton Brockett; he preceded her in death Jan. 5, 1988.
She was a seamstress and was employed many years at Decatur Garment Factory. She was a member of Star General Baptist Church in Eldorado. She was active on her bowling team and loved working crossword puzzles and watching game shows.
She is survived by on daughter, Janet Futrell and husband Larry of McLeansboro; one son, Johnny Brocket of McLeansboro; five grandchildren, Brad Futrell (wife Cathy) of McLeansboro, Greg Futrell of McLeansboro, Andrea Cantrell (husband Doug) of McLeansboro, Alan Brockett of Fairview Heights and April Brockett and fiance Travis Green of McLeansboro; five great-grandchildren, Grace Futrell, Aden Futrell, Justin Cantrell and wife Seasha, Jonathan Cantrell and Madelyn Cantrell; and one great-great-grandchild, Makena Grace Cantrell.
She was preceded in death by her parents, husband and several brothers and sisters.
Memorials may be made to Star Church Kitchen Fund and will be accepted at the church or Harre Funeral Home, McLeansboro.
