Donald L. Lankford, 90, of McLeansboro, died Saturday, Oct. 15, 2016, at Hamilton Memorial Hospital, McLeansboro.
Visitation was held 9:30 a.m. until the time of service on Tuesday Oct. 18, at Harre Funeral Home, McLeansboro.
The funeral was held 10:30 a.m. Tuesday, Oct. 18, Harre Funeral Home, McLeansboro. MIlitary rites were accorded by American Legion Post 106 and Military Honor Team of Marion. The clergy was Aaron Phelps. Burial was at Braden Valley Cemetery.
He was born Nov. 2, 1925, in McLeansboro, the son of Cecil Lankford and Lucille (Laughmiller) Lankford. He married Beulah Brockett on May 18, 1946, in Morganfield, Ky.
He was an oilfield driller and was the owner of Lankford Drilling Co.
Don was a member of Polk Lodge 137 and was a Master Mason for 65 years. He was also a member of I.O.O.F. Hamilton Lodge 191. He loved horses, playing "oilfield rummy with close friends and he loved having visitors stop by. Don served in the U.S. Navy in the South Pacific.
He is survived by a son, Kenneth Lankford of McLeansboro; and a granddaughter, Michele Lankford and husband Dan Allen of Dahlgren.
He was preceded in death by his parents and his wife, Beulah.
In lieu of flowers, contributions are asked to be made to Hamilton Memorial Hospital Foundation and will be accepted at the funeral home.
