Donald "Jiggs" LeRoy Gay, 83, of Westville, passed away at 1:12 p.m., Monday, Oct. 30, 2017, at VA Illiana Healthcare, Danville. He was born on April 11, 1934, in Tilton, the son of Pearl and Lottie (Lovell) Gay, both deceased.
He will be dearly missed by son, Donald (Loretta) Gay Jr. of Hoopeston; daughters, Julia Gay of Westville and Robin Burton of Kansas; brother, Jim Gay of Tilton; sister, Joe Ann Shultz of Danville; several grandchildren and great grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his wife, Beverly Gay; sons, Kevin Gay and Wayne Sergent; daughter, Donna Gay; grandsons, Joshua Biage and Skylar Gay.
Jiggs was a proud Veteran of the U.S. Navy and was a member of the Westville American Legion Post No. 51 and Masons. He enjoyed dancing, hunting and riding around town on his 3-wheeler or in his blue pickup truck. He was loved by everyone and was known to never give up. He was a fighter until the end and he will be remembered by all whose lives he touched.

A celebration of Jiggs' life will be held at 10 a.m., Monday, Nov. 6, 2017, at Sunset-Urbas Chapel, 414 S State St, Westville, with Jay Sorrell officiating. Visitation will be held from 2 - 6 p.m. on Sunday, Nov. 5, 2017, with Masonic Rites at 6 p.m. at the funeral home. He will be laid the rest in Sunset Memorial Park, with Military Rites by American Legion Post No. 51. Memorial donations may be given in his name to Palliative Care at VA Illiana Healthcare System, Danville.
