Dolores Lee Fry, age 92, of DuQuoin, IL, formerly of Mt. Vernon, Centralia and Champaign, IL, passed away on Sunday, November 13, 2016 at 8:10 a.m. in DuQuoin Nursing and Rehab, DuQuoin, IL.
Mrs. Fry was born on April 4, 1924 in Mt. Vernon, IL, a daughter to Edward L. and Alice Katherine (Stratton) Funkhouser. On November 13, 1943, she married Leroy Wayne Fry in Charleston, SC, where her husband served in the United States Navy and he preceded her in death on November 5, 2010. She was a member of and very active in the First Baptist Church, DuQuoin, IL. She was a homemaker and long-time grocery checker in local stores and retired from the Kroger store. Mrs. Fry had volunteered at the Gold Plate program for a number of years until her health no longer permitted.
Survivors include her two daughters, Lynette Louise Roof of Springfield, IL and Deborah Gail Bunton of DuQuoin, IL; three grandsons, Christopher Wayne Bunton, Bradd Erin Roof, and Dennis Allen Bunton and Missy; six great-grandchildren, Brittany, Michelle, Brooklyn, Zack, Logan and Reagan; two great-great-grandchildren, Paisley and Jeremy; two sisters, JoAlice Hoffer of Sorento, IL and Nancy Elaine Davis of Ely, NV; and a brother, Lynn Nelson Funkhouser of Ely, NV.
She was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Leroy Wayne Fry; and a son-in-law, Michael Bunton.
Mrs. Fry's wishes were to be cremated. No funeral services will be held. A private family burial will take place at a later date in the Oakwood Cemetery, Mt. Vernon, IL.
