TILTON - Debra Jean DeAtley, 60, of Tilton, passed away at 12:47 p.m. on Feb. 26, 2017 at Carle Foundation Hospital in Urbana.
Debra was born in Danville, the daughter of Orville and Betty Wright McDaniel on May 12, 1956, the youngest only girl of three children. She attended Danville schools. She met her husband of 44 years, Russell DeAtley through her older brothers. They were married on Feb. 23, 1973. He survives. They have two children, Scotty and Steven DeAtley, both of Tilton. For the last 15 years she has raised her great-nephew, Shawn McDaniel, as her own. Also surviving are her grandchildren, Michael, Taylor, Braxton, Haidyn, and Bryndle; two brother, Jake (Diana) McDaniel and David Sr. (Starla Brumback)McDaniel, Danville; four nephews, Toby (Angel), Shawn (Amanda), David, and Kyle (Ashleigh); nieces, Brandy (Pauly Penberthy) McDaniel and Josie Pate; great-nephews, Tyler, Nick, Shawn, Darius; great-nieces, Maylee and Jozie; brother-in-law, Jerry and Martha DeAtley; niece, Sara; sister-in-law, Kathy DeAtley; sister-in-law, Lynette DeAtley; brother-in-law, Allen and Michelle DeAtley; and nieces, Robin, Amanda, and Brooke. She was preceded in death by both of her parents and one nephew, Jake.
Debbie was the greatest wife, mother, sister, aunt and grandmother anyone could ask for. She was crossing guard for Cannon Elementary, where she met some wonderful people and touched a lot of lives. Debbie loved children, she took care of many over the years. She enjoyed spending time with family. Her grandchildren were the highlight of her day. Anytime anyone of her family members needed her, she was there. She was also well known for the many afghans that she made for family and friends, as well as scarfs that kept us warm
Funeral service: 10 a.m. Thursday at Robison Chapel in Catlin with Pastor Lynette DeAtley officiating. Burial in Sunset Cemetery in Danville. Visitation: 5-7 p.m. on Wednesday at Robison Chapel. Memorials to American Diabetes Association. On-line condolences at www.robisonchapel.com.
