Corey's Story

Corey Douglas Schneeman, 46, of Hebron, Ky., formerly of Pontiac, Ill., passed away Wednesday, December 13, 2017, in Florence, Ky.
A memorial service will be at 11 a.m. CST Saturday, December 30, at St. Paul Lutheran Church, 210 N. Deerfield Road, Pontiac, Ill., with Pastor Wayne Shelksohn officiating. A private military burial will be held at a later date at the St. Paul-Rowe Cemetery.
Visitation will be 9-11 a.m. CST Saturday, December 30, at the church.
Corey was born September 18, 1971, in Camp Lejeune, North Carolina, to Doug and Peggie (Trainor) Schneeman, both survive in Pontiac, Ill.
He married the love of his life, Kelly Kochvar, on December 31, 2008, in Champaign, Ill. She survives in Hebron, Ky.
Also surviving are his most beloved and cherished sons, Tristan, Logan, Leighton and Landyn; brother, Mike (April) Schneeman of Pontiac, Ill.; parents-in-law, Richard and Sandra Kochvar of Danville, Ill.; brother-in-law, Kevin Kochvar of Milford, Mich.; sister-in-law, Kimberly (Cole) Kochvar of Columbus, Ind.; special nieces and nephews, Kinsey Kochvar, Lacey Triplett, Nick Schneeman, Tyler Cole, Aidan Cole, Logan Triplett and Lukas Triplett.
He was preceded in death by his beloved daughter, Sloan Schneeman; paternal grandparents, Don and Katie Schneeman; maternal grandparents, Harley and Betty Trainor; and sister-in-law, Megan Fera Kochvar.
Corey was a graduate of Pontiac Township High School, Class of 1990. He obtained an Associate of Science degree from Heartland Community College in Bloomington, Ill., in 1992, graduating at the top of his class. He went to University of Illinois for biology from 1992-1994, receiving straight A's in all semesters and making the President's List. He received a Bachelor of Medical Science degree from Midwestern University in Downers Grove, Ill., in 1996. He went on to obtain a Master's of Physician Assistant Studies from the University of Nebraska College of Medicine in Omaha, Neb., in 2013.
Corey served in the United States Air Force.
For many years, Corey worked as a physician assistant at Carle Clinic Association in Danville and Champaign, Ill., and later practiced in the Cincinnati, Ohio/Northern Kentucky area.
Corey was a member of Lakeside Christian Church in Hebron, Ky.; Ohio Association of Physician Assistants; American Association of Physician Assistants; Illinois Association of Physician Assistants; Continuing Medical Education doing speaking engagements on an ongoing basis; Illinois Society of Dermatology Physician Assistants; Society of Dermatology Physician Assistants; and Lions Club.
Corey lived a life in service. He served others through his profession as a physician assistant, to our country in the United States Air Force, to community by volunteering his time to various charitable organizations and he was an organ donor as his last wish. To every person he met he would help without a second's hesitation. He was an avid Chicago Cubs, Chicago Bears and overall sports fan. He enjoyed fishing, biking, outdoors activities and most of all being with his family.
Above all else, he loved his wife, children and family dearly. He will be forever cherished and missed by all who know him.
In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to the children's education fund at the memorial service.
