Collette Leroy Hillsman

Collette Leroy Hillsman began his experience of glory, in the presence of his Lord and savior, on June 6, 2019, in Spring Hill, Tenn.
Robert and Flossie Hillsman gave birth to a baby boy, Collette Hillsman, on August 27, 1949, at St. Elizabeth Hospital. He was educated in Danville School District 118.
He was no stranger to hard work. Collette was employed for over 25 years as a custodian for Danville Public Schools where he took great pride in keeping his buildings clean. He was a former UAW laborer at Central Foundry (General Motors), Tilton, Ill.
Collette was formerly married to Brenda Moore-Morris. She survives.
Collette accepted Christ at a young age and was a member of Second Baptist Church. He loved all genres of music and could be caught humming a tune in harmony. He was a member of Second Baptist Church's men's choir and was the lead singer of the Mountain Top Gospel Singers.
He loved barbecuing, playing cards and traveling. Collette also loved fishing and "trash talking" about who caught the largest or the most fish. He enjoyed time spent with family and friends.
Collette brought joy to those around him with his kind heart, jokes and witty comebacks. He possessed a quiet persona, but he was always cheering his family on and rooting for each and everyone's success. He beamed with pride over every accomplishment and possessed a genuine heart to see his friends and family succeed. His words were uplifting and his spirit gentle. He was always willing to lend a helping hand and spent his life unselfishly helping family.
While here on this earth we may share in the sufferings of Christ but those who call upon the name of the Lord will share in his resurrection and glory. Though we grieve an indescribable loss, we rejoice that our Father turns mourning into dancing, and that Collette has not only been healed, but has been made whole - and is undoubtedly at peace today.
Collette leaves to cherish his memories his beloved sister, Francine D. (Ernest) Blanden of Spring Hill, Tenn.; devoted brother, Carl Gene (Janet) Alexander of Danville; daughter, Dawn (Michael) Tirey; grandchildren, Paris, Myshaela, Tirey and Pierre Williams of Folsom, Calif.; two great-grandkids, Cordell and Ayla of California; nieces, Tisa (Jerry) Day of Jackson, Tenn., Toni Thompson of Memphis, Tenn., Tara (McKinley) James of Spring Hill, Tenn., Teresa Blanden and Yavonnda (Darin) Smith of Champaign, Carla Alexander Johns of Laurel, Md., and Monica (Dallas) Smith of Atlanta, Ga.; brother-in-law, Joel B.
