Chris was born on May 2, 1967 in Danville to Ned and Wanda (Moretto) McDowell. During his youth Chris was an altar boy for ten years at St. Peter and Paul Church and was an Eagle Scout. He attended Westville schools, enlisting in the delayed entry program for the US Navy his senior year at WHS. Upon his graduation in 1985, he proudly served in US Navy as a Fire Control Man during The Gulf War and Desert Storm. Chris enjoyed watching TV, especially NASCAR races, being outdoors and camping. He was a car and truck fanatic, and was a longtime member of The Central IL Mustang Club. More than anything Chris loved his family and spending time with them, especially their Fourth of July celebrations.
Chris married Harriet Harvey in 1991and though the two later divorced, remained friends to this day. His two children, Christina and Isaac McDowell survive, both of which he adored and was very proud of. His father Ned McDowell, three aunts and uncles: Ted McDowell, Wilma Cole, and Edward J. Moretto; four cousins: Kimberly (Tony) Koontz, Sara (Mark) Olson, Paul (Monica) Moretto, and Denise Cole; and several younger cousins will greatly miss him too.
