Cathryn A. Snider, 84, of Westville, passed away at 4:22 p.m. Wednesday, January 31, 2018, at Carle Foundation Hospital, Urbana.
She was born December 9, 1933, in Danville, Ill., the daughter of Floyd and Vivian (Harper) Gillespie.
She was united in marriage to James Snider on December 24, 1950, in Georgetown, until his passing in 1992.
Cathryn was a homemaker and a servant to many others in her life. She faithfully attended Bible Missionary Church in Georgetown. She enjoyed reading and refinishing antique furniture. She also enjoyed going to yard sales and working in her yard.
She is survived by her son, George James (Eva) Snider of Georgetown; her sisters, Linda (Red) Jennings of Attica and Lois Fuller of Diamond, Mo.; her grandchildren, James Robert Snider and Cathy Snider; her niece, Nila Dilbert of Cincinnati, Ohio; and several nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents; a brother; two half-brothers; a half-sister; and two sisters.
The family would like to extend a special thank you to her nieces Mira Stark and Debra Dilbeck for their care of Cathryn.
A celebration of Cathryn's life will be at 1 p.m. Saturday, Feb. 3, at Bible Missionary Church, Perrysville Avenue, Georgetown, with Pastors Roger Mertens and Pastor James Taylor officiating. Visitation will be 11 a.m.-1 p.m. Saturday at the church prior to her service. She will be laid to rest in Georgetown Cemetery.
