Carolyn S. Howie, 68, of Potomac, passed away at 4:28 p.m. Sunday, Aug. 27, 2017, at Carle Foundation Hospital, in Urbana, with her friends and family by her side.
Carolyn was born Feb. 13, 1949, in Danville, the daughter of Eldon D. and June I. (Pruitt) Larkin.
She married John Howie on April 7, 1968, in Potomac. He survives.
She also is survived by her mother, June Larkin of Danville; son, Mike (Tracie Hunt) Howie of Potomac; three grandchildren, Cole, Casy and Camryn Howie; brother, Larry (Cynthia) Larkin of Danville; and several aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews and cousins.
She was preceded in death by her father, Eldon Larkin, on March 8, 2017.
Carolyn graduated from Potomac High School. She worked at Goodwine State Bank, in Potomac, for over 20 years. She later worked at Bell Sports and Walgreen's Accounting, in Danville, until her retirement in 2010. Carolyn also served at the Middlefork Township Treasurer, for over 20 years.
She was a member of Potomac Church of the Nazarene. She also served on the Potomac Public Library board and was a past school board member. Carolyn loved being involved in her community and also taking pictures. She also enjoyed going on vacations with John to South Dakota each year.
Her greatest enjoyment was spending time with her grandchildren.
Graveside Services will be at 10:30 a.m. Friday, Sept. 1, at Potomac Cemetery with Pastor Randy Holden officiating. Memorials may be made to Potomac Church of the Nazarene.
