Carol  Holmes


Carol Marie Holmes, 64, went to be with our Lord at 10:17 a.m. Tuesday, April 9, 2019, at her residence.
She was born September 1, 1954, in Danville, Ill., to Engram and Bernice Turner-Johnson.
She was a graduate of Danville High School. She worked at GM for 30 years, retiring in 2008.
She enjoyed shopping, cooking, decorating, playing cards, spending time with family and listening to the Word of God.
Carol leaves to cherish her memories her mother; four children, Dionne Holmes and Ericka Holmes of Shreveport, La., Season Marshall of Danville, and Maranda Scott of Dallas, Texas; one sister; Debra Robertson; one brother, Lawrence Johnson of Danville; six grandkids, E'Terica Holmes, Elijah Holmes, E'moni Holmes, Camyrn Scott, Jeremy Loyd Scott and Chadrick Scott; extended family, brother Clay Tyler; sisters, Toni-Tyler, Tammy Tyler, Donna Kay Jenkins, Nyrita Parker; best friend and sister, Connie Williams, formerly married to Donald Holmes, nieces, Brandy Robertson, Tanijia Robertson, Ericka Keith Jilysa Winfield Harper Keith; nephews, Damon Robertson and Damon Robertson Jr.
She was preceded in death by her dad; one sister, Sandra Johnson; one brother, David Johnson; one daughter, Theresa Ann Holmes; and one son, Donald Holmes Jr.
A Homegoing Celebration will commence at noon Tuesday, April 16, at Carter Metropolitan C.M.E. Church, 448 E. Williams St., Danville. Visitation will be 11 a.m. until the time of service. Officiating: Pastor J. Michael Wright. Internment: Sanhill Memorial Park.

Sending my condolences and prayers to the family. Aunt Carol will truly be missed and loved. I'm not going to tell my cousins how to be strong or its going to be ok because I never been in their shoes. But what I can say is weeping may endure for a night but joy will cometh in the morning.
