Calvin's Story

Danville Calvin Arthur Karnstedt, 72, of Danville, IL formerly of Mt Prospect, IL went to be with his Lord and Savior on Saturday June 3, 2017 at 6:53 PM at Danville Care Center in Danville, IL.

Calvin was born on February 23, 1945 the son of Arthur and Esther Karnstedt in Elmhurst, IL. He married Lee Alison Liebmann on May 18, 1974 in Elmhurst, IL and she survives.

Survivors include his wife of 43 years, Lee Alison Karnstedt of Mt Prospect, IL, one daughter, Kathryn (Curtis) Eichen of Mahomet, IL, two brothers, Kenneth Karnstedt and Keith Karnstedt, one brother-in-law, Rick Lee, two grandchildren, Elisabeth and Logan Eichen of Mahomet, IL as well as special family friends, Bonnie Hollis and Sarah Jane and Bob Swaar.

Calvin is preceded in death by his parents, and one son, James Calvin Karnstedt.

Calvin was a member of the St Paul Lutheran Church in Mt Prospect, IL and a member of the Moose Lodge. He served his country in the United States Navy and was retired from the Navy Reserves after 20 years of service. Calvin also retired from Nystrom in Chicago, IL where he worked for many years in the Map and World Globes division. While at Danville Care Center, Calvin served as Resident Counsel President for over a decade. In his free time, Calvin enjoyed tackling woodworking projects as he puttered around in his workshop as well as watching the Chicago Cubs and Bears. Calvin will be missed dearly by his loving wife, daughter, grandchildren as well as the residence and staff of Danville Care Center.

A Celebration of Life Service will be held at a later date at St. Paul Lutheran Church in Mt Prospect, IL. Sunset Funeral Home and Cremation Center, 3940 N. Vermilion Street, Danville, IL is assisting the family with arrangements. Memorials may be made in Calvins memory to the Resident Fund at Danville Care Center 1701 N. Bowman Danville, IL 61832.
