Brian's Story

Brian Ray Shelley died suddenly Oct. 11, 2016 in an accident. He was born Nov. 5, 1966 in Lafayette, Ind. to Ed and Barbara Shelley. His mother survives. He married Orvetta on Sept. 23, 1989. She survives.
In his early years, he worked for Coultas Recycling and Mervis Industries. He was a heavy equipment operator for IUOE Local 841. He loved his union and the many people he worked with over the years. He received his 25 year pin last year. He was currently working with Big O.
He was an active member of Bethel Lutheran Church since 1985, serving in many capacities. He was a truly good guy that was loved by many. Hard-working and always working, he was the one to call on if you needed a hand. Mushrooming and motorcycles made him happy. Bingo wasn't his thing so much, but he always went with his wife. He had a large family, and loved them all.
Surviving are his daughters, Paige Bishop and Amy (Jeremy) Stinespring of Westville; his grandchildren, Alysa (Jesse Wright) Weymuth, of Raleigh, N.C., Kaitlyn (Joe) Aquino of Oakwood, Kegan (Brittany) Weymuth of Catlin, Logan Bishop, Camren and Chloe Stinespring of Westville; one brother, Mark Shelley of Juneau, Ark.; one sister, Julie York of Brevard, N.C.; four sisters-in-law, Pamela (Jim) Jameson of Tilton, Robin (Jack) Shouse of Danville, Valerie (Paul) Frazier of Westville, and Melanie (Mike) Dillavou of Mahomet.
He was preceded in death by two brothers, Larry and Eddie; brother-in-law, Paul Hempen; a sister-in-law, Melody Douglass; and great-nephew, William Welsch. Also surviving are nieces and nephews, Mark (Kim) Sells, Heather (Marcelo) Ledesma, Shannon Trosper, Ryan (Jodi Harrier) Trosper, Jessica (Ryan) Welsh, Allison (Kaleb) Carter, Joshua (Angela) Cooprider, Hayley Cooprider, Michael Douglass, Carley (Mike Faso) Cooprider, Brandon Brooks, Colton and Tyler Dillavou; great-nieces and nephews, Cheyenne (Sean Wallace) Coulter, Lakota (Josh Martin) Sells, Abby Sells, Jonathan Leno, Isabella, Hannah, and Julian Ledesma, Destini (Jordan) Flint, Brooke Lemon, Delaney and Emma Sandlin, Dempsey Wyman, Austin Welsch, Elin and Avery Carter, Nevin McPherson, Julia and Joshua Cooprider, Jr., Landen, Gianna, Azalea and Noah Douglass; great-great-nieces and nephews, Bently and Royce Wallace, Ellakie Martin, Loal and Lennox Flint, also included: Brytney, Ashylee, Cristofer and Camron Harrier.
Visitation will be from 4-8 p.m. on Thursday, Oct. 13, at Bethel Lutheran Church. Funeral service will be at 4 p.m. Friday, Oct. 14, at Bethel Lutheran Church with Pastor Ed Stone officiating. Burial will be at Spring Hill Cemetery following the funeral service.
