Billie J. “Bill” Trotter, 83, of Belle Rive, died at 1:45 p.m. Friday, Oct. 3, 2014, at Hamilton Memorial Rehabilitation and Nursing Center in McLeansboro. He was born July 15, 1931, in Hamilton County, a son of Naaman and Phoeba (Turner) Trotter. On July 20, 1950, he married Betty L. Irvin, who survives. In addition to his wife, he is survived by a son, David Trotter and wife Carolyn of Belle Rive; two daughters, Diane Haile and husband Marion of Bethany and Nancy Davis of Mt. Vernon; a brother, Ralph Trotter and wife Doris of Dahlgren; seven grandchildren; and 13 grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his parents and a grandson, Billie Joe Davis. Mr. Trotter was a retired technician with Hamilton County Telephone Cooperative in Dahlgren. He was a member of Dahlgren Baptist Church. Services were held Monday, Oct. 6, 2014, at Gholson Funeral Home in McLeansboro. Burial was in Lowry Hill Cemetery near Belle Rive. Visitation was held Sunday evening at the funeral home. Memorials may be made to the Lowry Cemetery Fund and will be accepted at the Gholson Funeral Home in McLeansboro.
