OAKWOOD - Betty J. Curry, 84, of Oakwood, passed away at 3 a.m. Monday, July 31, 2017, at Colonial Manor Nursing Home in Danville.
Betty was born Dec. 14, 1932, in Danville, Ill., the daughter of Clifford and Loretta (West) Kinney.
She married Norman Curry on March 21, 1952. He preceded her in death on July 30 2013.
Survivors include: Brenda (Robert) Wright, Janet (Robert) Hambright, Julie (Mitchell) Leverenz and Beth (Glen Peak) Curry, all of Oakwood; a brother, Richard (Cheryl) Kinney; two sisters, Sue Johnson and Frieda Kinney; her seven grandchildren, Robert (Keri) Wright, Marci (Gene) Dudley, Shannon (Joseph) Childers, Joshua (Kelsey) Hambright, Dustin (Jessica) Leverenz, Derek Leverenz, and Travis Peak; her eight great-grandchildren, Robby and Rylee Wright, Gina and Cannon Dudley, Trent, Ryan, Nicholas and Maci Jo Childers; a brother, Richard (Cheryl) Kinney; and many nieces and nephews whom she loved very much. She was preceded in death by her parents; brother Clifford Kinney; and three sisters, Annabelle, Audrey and Dorothy.
Betty graduated from Oakwood High School. She worked at the Oakwood Unit 76 Schools for over 20 years. She also volunteered in the CARE program at Oakwood Grade School.
She enjoyed puzzles, game and game shows. She was a member of Faith Baptist Church, where she volunteered in the nursery. Most of all, she loved her family.
The family would like to give a special thank you to the staff of Colonial Manor for their tender, loving care.
Funeral service: 2 p.m. Friday, Aug. 4, at Robison Chapel in Catlin with Rev. Patti Wise officiating. Burial in Stearns Cemetery in Fithian. Visitation: noon until service time Friday at Robison Chapel.
