Betty L. Buck, 83, of Opdyke went to be with the Lord surrounded by her family at 6:50 A.M. November 11, 2017 at SSM Health Good Samaritan Hospital in Mount Vernon, Illinois. Betty was born to Manley and Doris Morgan in Troy, Alabama on July 14, 1934. She married Ted Buck on October 12, 1952 in Mount Vernon, Illinois and he survives in Opdyke, Illinois.
Ted and Betty lived in Virginia and North Carolina for 22 years as Ted served in the United States Air Force. Betty was a faithful, loving wife and spent her time raising and making a home for their family. Betty insisted upon teaching her family about the Lord and the necessity of worship and living according to the standards of her Lord and Savior. Betty taught Girl Scouts in North Carolina and was active in the Air Force Chapel in Goldsboro, North Carolina. Betty loved her flower garden and spent many hours cultivating and nurturing her flowers.
Along with her husband, Betty is survived by her daughters, Brenda Mosier and husband, Jeff of Wabash, Indiana and Cindy Harvey and husband, Walter of Goodyear, Arizona; sons, Ted Buck Jr. and wife Lana (Johnson) of Mount Vernon, Illinois and Asa Buck and wife, Andrea (Steffy) of Opdyke, Illinois; grandchildren, Chris Koelling and wife, Jill (Hamlin) of Opdyke, Illinois, T.R. Buck and wife, Tasha (Bradford) of Mount Vernon, Illinois, and Alexandria Buck of Opdyke, Illinois; great grandsons, Teo and Prestyn Buck, both of Mount Vernon, Illinois; sisters, Felicia Yocum and husband Kent of Dawsonville, Georgia and Patricia Ivey and husband, Joe of Fayetteville, Georgia; and several nieces, nephews, and many friends who loved her. Betty touched many lives in her time here and will be sorely missed by family and friends.
Visitation will be held from 5:00 to 8:00 P.M. Monday, November 13, 2017 at Lebanon Baptist Church in Mount Vernon, Illinois.
Funeral Service will be held at 10:30 A.M. Tuesday, November 14, 2017 at Lebanon Baptist Church in Mount Vernon, Illinois with Reverend Travis Hayes and Reverend Richard West officiating.
Interment will follow at Smith Cemetery in Jefferson County, Illinois.
For all those who wish Betty asked that memorials be given to Lebanon Baptist Church Building Fund in lieu of flowers.
